Monaco Yacht Show 2024 will open with a clear message: A greener, more responsible future for yachting

The Monaco Yacht Show 2024 opens on September 25 with a bold statement, kicking off its four-day run until September 28, with a sustainability summit that sets the tone for the entire event. This prestigious show has redefined its focus this year by putting environmental innovation at the forefront, beginning at 10:30 AM with key industry figures addressing the urgent need to embrace green technologies and reduce the sector’s environmental impact.

Attendees will not only see the usual lineup of luxurious superyachts, but also experience firsthand how leading manufacturers like Feadship, Sanlorenzo, and Lürssen are integrating eco-friendly solutions—from electric propulsion systems to hydrogen fuel cells. The emphasis on retrofit technology is also key, demonstrating how even existing yachts can be adapted to meet future environmental standards.

The show runs until September 28, providing ample time for yacht owners, industry leaders, and enthusiasts to explore how luxury and sustainability are converging in exciting, innovative ways. By opening with a sustainability focus, Monaco sends a strong message: the future of yachting is not just about grandeur, but about being smarter, cleaner, and more responsible.

What Makes Monaco Yacht Show Stand Out

While other prominent boat shows like the Cannes Yachting Festival or the Genoa Boat Show cater to a broad range of vessels, Monaco distinguishes itself by focusing almost exclusively on superyachts—those extravagant vessels over 100 feet long that define the height of luxury at sea. In fact, the Monaco Yacht Show is renowned for exhibiting 120 of the largest and most expensive superyachts, with vessels often exceeding 300 feet. The standout for 2024 is Kismet, a 400-foot megayacht, making its debut as the largest yacht ever presented at the show. This reflects Monaco’s unrivaled status as the ultimate superyacht showcase.

Another element that sets Monaco apart is its ability to attract the most exclusive clientele. Billionaires, celebrities, and royalty are among the regular visitors, all seeking to either acquire the latest luxury vessels or simply marvel at the state-of-the-art technology and lavish designs on display. The event provides a rare opportunity for clients to meet with top shipbuilders, including Feadship, Lürssen, and Benetti, and discuss bespoke projects and high-tech upgrades

    Focus on Sustainability

While luxury remains at the core of the Monaco Yacht Show, this year’s event will emphasize the industry’s increasing focus on sustainability. The opening conference on September 25 will explore the environmental challenges faced by the yachting industry and discuss practical solutions, such as reducing the carbon footprint of older yachts and adopting eco-friendly practices onboard. Key speakers, like Jean-Marc Bolinger, CEO of MB92 Group, and Robert van Tol of the Water Revolution Foundation, will lead discussions on how technological innovations are pushing the boundaries of sustainable luxury.

Monaco’s Sustainability Hub will also feature innovations such as hydrogen-powered vessels, electric propulsion systems, and methanol fuel cells, giving attendees a glimpse into the future of superyacht design. The show’s strong sustainability focus mirrors similar trends seen at other leading boat shows, such as Cannes, but Monaco is taking it a step further by offering platforms for older yachts to be retrofitted with green technology, making this event a leader in future-proofing the superyacht industry.

    Exclusive Partnerships and Global Influence

This year, Monaco will also see the presence of Dubai Tourism, promoting Dubai’s rise as a hub for luxury yacht marinas. Dubai’s participation underscores the international scope of the event, as it connects global yachting destinations with Monaco at the center of this ultra-luxury industry. Such international collaboration extends the influence of the Monaco Yacht Show beyond Europe, making it a truly global event.

Additionally, the Monaco Yacht Show’s Upper Deck Lounge is designed to foster networking among superyacht owners, brokers, and designers, providing a chic environment for high-level conversations on everything from charter opportunities to new builds. Many significant business deals take place during these intimate sessions, making the show not just a showcase but also a pivotal business hub for the yachting industry.

    Unparalleled Superyacht Innovation

Monaco is a stage for world premieres, and this year’s lineup includes innovative new launches from the likes of Sanlorenzo, Feadship, and Heesen Yachts. These yachts are packed with the latest in smart technology, featuring fully integrated automation systems, sustainable materials, and cutting-edge propulsion systems. The show offers a chance to explore 3D-printed yacht components, electric propulsion technologies, and hydrogen fuel cell systems, which are transforming how we think about luxury at sea.

Monaco remains unique in how it bridges heritage and innovation. While modern technology and sustainability are at the forefront, many of the yachts displayed at Monaco maintain their ties to classic luxury design, blending tradition with future-forward innovation in a way no other show can match.

Key Exhibitors and Yachts to Watch

      • Kismet by Lürssen: The largest superyacht at the show, boasting a helipad, cinema, and more.
      • Sanlorenzo’s 50Steel: A green methanol-powered yacht that reflects the future of carbon-neutral cruising.
      • Bold by SilverYachts: Described as a “sports activity vessel,” this yacht blends exploration capabilities with ultra-luxury.

The Monaco Yacht Show 2024 remains the definitive event for anyone involved in the superyacht world, from high-net-worth individuals to designers and innovators. The show’s global prestige, sustainability focus, and exclusive opportunities to explore groundbreaking superyacht designs make it the premier event for shaping the future of luxury yachting.
